Cats even kittens can be treated with this. Just a few drops of corn oil in the ear, massage it in then clean with a cotton ball so it doesn't get all over. Repeat daily for 3 days. The oil soothes the cat's skin, smothers the mites and accelerates healing. Non toxic I know this works I've used it many times, any cooking oil will do.

While I understand and have heard of the concept I have only used medication from the vet. One of the reasons for this is that you need to treat the cats tail as when the cat curls up the mites go to the cat's tail and then back to the ear again. I do not think that the oils that are mentioned in this thread will kill the mites that jump on to the cats tail, but will just jump right back to the ear. It is a viscious circle.

I think that if you have oil in the ear the mites that go there will only die, I think that I would also wipe the tail with oil of course it won't last long there because they can lick it. Why not try this next time you have a scratcher and see, I've used it for years. Also look to cat's general health like evrything else mites go for the weakness for a meal. LOL

I always used baby oil on my cats that had earmites. It worked really well. My kitties I have now thankfuly don't have ear mites and they are solely indoor kitties so hopefully they will not get ear mites either.
