Rick Reilly has an awesome article about Yankee stadium on ESPN. If you love the Yankees or appreciate baseball and its' history, you must read it. http://sports.espn.go.com/espnmag/story?id=3478188

It's going to be a sad day with that building gone. I've never been a Yankees fan but do appreciate the history of baseball. It would have been nice to actually see it in person. You can watch it on TV but unless you're at the stadium directly, it just doesn't do it justice. At least that's what I believe anyway on that. It's just something you couldn't imagine but it will be. This new Yankee stadium honestly won't have the same impact as the original one.

Yes, even non-Yankee fans can appreciate the fact that baseball is losing one of it's most beloved members when the season is over. The history of that place is unreal

Exactly. You don't have to be a Yankees fan to like Yankee stadium. One time in my Senior Year I wrote a report about Babe Ruth and he's well known as a New York Yankee and it had significance because at the time there was the talk of The Curse of the Bambino. That wasn't too bad and I got lucky I was able to do that. Anyway, I still feel that even if you have it called Yankee Stadium for the new one next season, it just won't have the historic aspect of the past.

No, it should not be allowed to be called Yankee Stadium. There is only one of those and they will be tearing it down:(

There are so many things I would steal if I was Jeter. My friend and I were joking around about him taking like a shower head or something stupid like that. Being more realistic I could see him taking a seat from the stands or some random signs from the stadium. I would love to have a few minutes to grab some things from there. There is so much tradition and history around.

Lucky for him, I don't think many people are going to stop him even if he is walking out of the stadium with something. I don't see the police showing up because Jeter stole a couple items. It must be nice.

True, true. Jeter is the ultimate Yankee like the famous players in the past. He appreciates the game and understands the importance of wearing the pinstripes. I used to admire A-Rod, but he has not clue what it means to be a Yankee and no appreciation for the game of baseball. When he passes the fake homerun king (Bonds) someday, they will be two peas in a pod...Arrogant Jerks who don't deserve to be there.

I would get caught walking out becuase I'd have too many things stuffed in my clothes. I have heard that he plans to steal something good.

I still don't see why they are tearing it down. Leave it up- turn it into a museum, something. It is one of the most historical monuments of baseball history. And I am not even a Yankee fan, in fact, I hate the Yankees. But I still love Yankee Stadium, and am upset that they are tearing it down and tearing down the history. By the way, Rick Reilly is AWESOME. Why did he leave Sports Illustrated? :(

I never thought about that...a museum? What a great idea. That makes too much sense, though...LOL. Don't know why Reilly left SI but is is an awesome writer.

i dont like the yankees, but i think yankee stadium shouldnt be tore down. i mean when you think about all the people that played there, the history, it makes the yankees seem crazy for wanting to move
