Mine is Windows Vista, it's an OK program, but Windows XP might've been better.

I tried Vista on a friend's laptop. His laptop had better specs than anything I had, yet Vista slowed him to a crawl. He tried to switch to XP, but the computer wouldn't let him, so I had him install Ubuntu instead. Ubuntu is lightning fast, and it's completely free.

Don't you find it slower than XP. I am yet to install Vista because of it's slowness. Anyway, it depends what you are habituated with.

I am Using Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate on my notebook PC and extremely happy with performance and Stability of the Operating Systems. I am Using an IBM Thinkpad R52Model which is even not classified for windows Vista and the Memory of the Notebook if only 768MB DDR2. the other application running of the machines is a SQL Server 2005 Developer edition, Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Professional along with common Office Applications. I am using this machines approximately 8-10 Hours a Day. and very happy with the performance of the machine. I have not turn off any of the features of windows vista.

Vista sucks. Ubuntu rules. What makes Vista run on 768MB is the lack of the neat effects and all that junk. Ubuntu can run pretty much all of its desktop effects on 512MB. Granted, you need a good graphics chip/card, but you can say the same for Windows. Visual Studio is pretty nice, but you can't make Linux ports with it, and you can't make Mac ports, either. You need separate compilers for that. I would suggest Python. It is easier to learn, and it is platform independent, meaning it works on all OSs which support Python. You just distribute the .pyc files and/or the .py source files, and you're good to go.

Hello triptibaby, I used to dual-boot Linux and Windows, but right now, I'm running on WinXP SP2 standalone. Still be dual-booting as soon as I finished building my new rig :)

I think it is somewhat troublesome to work on two operating system at the same time. I don't have any idea how linux works. Previously I had windows 98 and XP but later just XP.
