It will lose some of its vitamins if it is overcooked/over steamed, irrelevant whether the veges are cooked or steamed. And it is best to eat them raw to enjoy the fullness of the vitamins for sure but I don't think I could eat bitter guard or even okra without cooking them. I would normally saute the veges and flavor them with different ingredients of meat, sauces, broth or spices. Steamed ones is pretty bland and on occasions is ok. Cheers,

Anything thing that had heat applied to food looses nutrients. That's why we had to eat several spoonful of vegetables. In Australia here, people eat raw vegetable that way they can get more nutrients out of the vegetable as it have not been processed. For me, I like to steam vegetable because I grown up eating heated vegetables. I'm scare raw vegetables will taste too green for me and my tummy won't like it. hehe Cheers'

It depends on how I want to make the dish. Sometimes I cook the vegetables and sometimes I steam it. Maybe there are some proofs on vegetables will lose their vitamins when we cook them, but if we want just the nutrients but not the tastes, maybe we can do in this way, lol.

I do not beleive that the vegetables loose anything, I generally cook them in several ways.
