When i was young,we lived in a squatters area near a river. When it rain strong, the river overflow and cause floods in the place. It was fun. There was a piggery over there so the pigs went crazy swimming in the water and our neighbors get them and killed for meat.Sad thing was there were alot of damaged caused by the flood. We had to cleaned up inside our house because it was a mess.We had to removed thick soil that came in brought about by the flood. Its sad to remember because it happened many times. The government made a river control but haven't finish yet.Its been a long time but the budget was already inside the pocket so i don't know if its going to be finish.Well, i am glad we were not there anymore. My parents got a housing in a subdivision but still i heard the place still flooding specially during rainy season.

...When I was young, my parent's house was on the side of a hill in a flood plane. There were several times we had water in our basement, the sewer backs up, you cannot flush the toilet, everything gets distroyed. We have had water 2 steps from coming into our kitchen. It takes weeks to clean up after a flood. ...My church has gone down to help rebuilt after Katrina. The flooding I experienced is nothing in comparision to what happened as a result of Katrina. Those people lost everything and have to start over. The clean up is still going on, years after. ...Flooding is a destructive force you never want to experience on any level. ...Peace be with you. =(^;^)= Della

I got caught in one last year at work, and had to walk home fifteen miles through torrential rain, wading most of the way. At one point, I had to head up a street about half a mile long, all on a hill, with water running down it like a river at waist depth. I'm 6'5", and how I stayed on my feet I'll never know. Oddly, neither our house or my workplace was even slightly flooded. Just all the bits in between :P
