Three weeks ago one of my lovely kitties decided that my computer was no longer mine and was now theirs and had a hay day with marking it's territory the entire width of the monitor. Usually this is not a problem I'd just clean off my monitor and go about the days computer related business. However, two month ago I bought an Acer LCD widescreen flat panel monitor and have found out the hard way that anything liquid will find it's way in. When the cat marked it's territory the liquid excrement found it's way into the on/off control switch and surrounding buttons. I can still power on the monitor, however, it now turns on by pressing one of the other control buttons located on my monitor. I now either have one confused monitor or seriously need a replacement part before the monitor entirely fries on me. Replacing the part on my own would be a breeze for me, but one small thing is holding me back, I can find all sorts of Acer X163W inverter boards, but no such luck on finding an Acer X163W front panel control board (I may have the wrong name for the part, however it looks like a circuit board with little buttons on it). I would just take it in to a computer repair place, but the local and surrounding area places charge way to much for what will only take a few minutes to replace. And though I have found a few reasonably priced repair places online, I don't much trust sending anything dealing with expensive electronic equipment through the mail. So here is where I am needing the fine help of the people of this online community, do any of you out there know where I can find a replacement part for my Acer LCD widescreen monitor Model #: X163W? Or should I just find an inexpensive monitor of the same model that has the working part that I need? OR?? Please help, am going beyond the point of just being frustrated and don't have the money to replace it or take it to a repair person.
