I was just wondering how many atheists there were here on myLot. So, if you're an atheist, give a shout out!!! I have been an atheist for a year and (approximately) 2 months. I was a Deist before that, and before that a fundamentalist Christian.

I am sorry but I am not an atheist. But I am curious, could you please tell me what you believe that will happen after you die? I respect your opinion, just curious!

So you don't believe that you have a soul? Or this concept of having a soul also depends on your beliefs?

for me its a LONG story. i was once a huge believer. used to pray every day. then slowly, for unknown reasons, my faith started disappearing. leaving me an atheist. i still respect the believers though, so long as they respect me

Hehe, my case is similar to yours, except that I wasn't much of a fundamentalist. After all, I was just a kid :D It's good to meet people like you. Happy mylotting ;)

I can't remember how long I've been an atheist. I suppose it's always been there and I came to it after going through most of the worlds religions but they had nothing in them that I was interested in. I wasn't brought up in any particular faith so that probably contributed to me being an atheist

Another atheist here. I enjoy finally having a worldview I'm sure of, with a solid foundation. I've been an atheist for over 10 years. I was raised a churchgoer (Dad an Episcopal priest). Had a lot of doubts in college. Went to church on and off. In my thirties, became an active churchgoer...enjoyed the social life of the parish, held offices...but the doubts wouldn't stay repressed. Left, thought and read a lot, and finally committed to being an atheist. Enjoyed the writings of Stephen Jay Gould, and many others. Still a little difficult with other family members. You?
