Does It Bother You When You See Misspelled Words?

I don't claim to be the world's best speller. I've had my share of misspelled words here and other places too, but I always check my spelling if I'm not sure I've spelled a word correctly. I guess I'm sensitve to it because I distinctly remember my mom telling me when I was young that I wasn't a very good speller. She would type my reports for me and couldn't believe how many misspelled words were in one paragraph. Whether or not that was my fault or the education I was receiving is not necessarily part of this discussion, but I was wondering how many people also feel that people should take more care in how they spell, barring any language barrier, of course.

Yes, I mentioned in my post that barring a language barrier. I think your spelling and English is very good even though it may not be your primary language. My post was really more about misspellings in general. Thanks

Hi there wachit14! I am not really bothered by misspelled words. I also commit such errors at times. However, I am also concerned about such mistakes. I think that there should be no excuse for such mistakes except typographical errors because we can always check our spelling using some sites available online.

I am not tha bothered by misspelled words, unless hey really affect my understanding of what is being written. I am having problems with my keyboard these days, so I am prone to make typos. Howeer, my English is sill good enough that people know what I'm talking abou. I am bothered by people who don't een try, or who really should learn a bit more o the language beore they attempt to communicate on a website such as this.
