I love the ocean

I'm on my first trip ever to California, and staying on the coast in northern California. This is also the first time I've seen the Pacific Ocean! I haven't been to the ocean in quite a while, and I forgot how much I love it. I took a walk down to the beach earlier this evening, and just enjoyed the smell and the wind. Of course, this puts my number of oceans seen at 2. Not a lot. :) What do you love about the ocean, and how many have you seen?

i've never seen the ocean. i have been in the middle of lake michigan with no land in sight and someone told me that was like being in the ocean. considering the ocean i would be afraid of sharks. i hear a lot about them. even just being on the beach and going into the water close to shore the can be attacked. you don't have to worry about that at a lake. but i'm sure the ocean is very beautiful and with the palm trees.

Oddly enough, I can't remember ever seeing palm trees when I was at the beach. I guess most of the beaches I've been to are fairly northern beaches! I have also never been ON the ocean. Just looked at it from the shore or gone out maybe 10-20 feet to play in the water.

Don't worry about the shark thing. They are much more scared of you than you of them. There are very few shark attacks, it's just that the news runs with it when there are attacks. I have been to many beaches and snorkeled at thenm all, too, which is a must do if you are going to a Carribean type waters where it is clear. We saw three tiger sharks in Destin about 10 ft from us. They were about 3 ft long. I also saw a baby hammerhead shark in Panama City about a foot long. Very cool. There is a whole nother world under the waters that you don't want to miss

i'm glad the sharks aren't as bad. and yes it is a whole other world down below. i've seen documentaries and movies with great shots underneath and it looks appealing to be an underwater creature or live in the city of atlantis.

I can't say I have seen an ocean because I have never been to an ocean shore. I have seen a sea though when I went to Pattaya Beach in Thailand. That was on the Gulf of Thailand, a beautiful sea view. I had a nice holiday there on Pattaya Beach. This is one of the most popular beaches in Southeast Asia.

I live in Seattle, which is several steps removed from the ocean--similar to what you're describing, I think. But Seattle isn't a popular beach, at least not most parts of it! :)

My first trip on an airplane was to Seattle, where I did actually go to the beach. It was January, and I loved Seattle, but the beach was not really anything like the other beaches I went to later in life. Still, you have a really cool aquarium there. :)

You haven't been to the right ones then or done the right things when there to enjoy them. Make sandcastles like when you were a kid, walk along the beach during the day and at night, try to catch crabs or fish with a kids net at night, snorkel, jet ski, just have fun

I LOVE the ocean. I had never seen it before, and was able to go to Kauai when I was 29. I cannot even describe the feeling I got from being near it. The peace that came over me was almost immediate. I love the sound, the smell, the feel, the life within it. I love to snorkel, and to play in it, but I am completely happy just reading a book on the beach near it. I have since been fortunate to have been to the ocean many times, most often the Pacific Ocean. About 8 years ago, I took a trip to Botswana, and South Africa. While I was there I was able to see the Cape of Good Hope, where the Indian and Atlantic Oceans meet. Enjoy your trip for me too! I haven't been able to go to the ocean for the past two and a half years, and I am suffering horribly. LOL

I think before this trip, it had been more than 10 years since I had been to the ocean--I'm pretty sure the last trip I took to the ocean was when my family went to Virginia Beach many years ago. It's amazing how the smell stays in your brain, though. As soon as I got out of the car to walk down to the beach, I smelled it and remembered that smell. :)

We walked right out of our hotel onto the sandy white beach on our honeymoon. The water was cystal clear and smooth as glass. Totally awesome We even initiated a hut on the beach:) which I am sure we were not the first to do. Enjoy your trip

I've taken a few pictures already, and I'm hoping for better weather later in the week to get some more pictures. Today it was sunny and bright until I was about 2 miles from the coast, and then it turned cloudy and gray! I've also been to Myrtle Beach, Virginia Beach, and Destin. We didn't stay long at the last one, as there were jellyfish washed up on the shore. But I loved the white sand there!

I love to see the ocean and am lucky enough to live on the edge of a coastal town. My home is ten minutes drive to the Bristol Channel and just across the water I can see Wales. I love to walk along the sandy beach with my two dogs racing up and down the sand dunes. Traveling is my top hobby and I have seen the Pacific Ocean. I have been to California, Hawaii, Fiji, the East Coast of Australia, French Polynesia and the Cook Islands. I have seen the Indian Ocean because I have been to the Seychelles, Kenya and the Maldives. I saw the Atlantic Ocean when I went to the South West Corner off the coast of Portugal. I have seen the Caribbean Sea because I have been to St Lucia, Mexico south of Cancun and Belize.
