I recommend you to use the Service pack 2. You'll face less problem with this one.

i would say service pack 2 is just enough for now. But if you want to be pretty safe, you have to go with service pack 3. It just depends on what you need

Maybe its just me but when I did use WinXP sp3 strait up to install a new PC I had a problem with the audio card, it is detected but the updated driver cannot run it properly. What I did was complete reinstall using WinXP sp2 then do the upgrade to SP3 its working fine with me since then. SPs are correction to flaws of windows, its not an enhancement or new features, so windows will be more stable and secure than before.

I've only used Windows XP since I got this computer a few years ago. And I have been reading about Vista users and the problems that they are having. I find that Windows is complicated in general. XP has been somewhat good to me, but I do have some complaints. I get a lot of systme32 problems and problems with the rundell or whatever. Plus I heard that with Vista it takes up more memory and that's bad if you want to save lots of stuff on there and play games.
