I used to work at an Airport back in 2000 pushing wheel chairs and sub-contracted thru Alaska. It was expected when you pushed someone from point A to point B to get some sort of tip from that person even if it was only $1. Problem was, not everyone thought it was necessary and did not think it was necessary. The ones who were the worst, were the ones from the ritzier areas.

No, I've never had a job like that, but I would hate dealing with the feelings of frustration at people who refused to leave anything. I realize that some jobs purposely pay very low and count on tips to make a living wage.

I live in Australia and we dont tip over here, sometimes if we go to a resturant and have really good service we willleave a small tip but it is not expected. My sister worked for a time at a large 5 star hotel cleaning the rooms and the Americans always left tips they were very popular guests, all the tips were pooled and then shared among the room cleaners.

The only time that I worked where I would get tips was when i was much younger and was delivering newspapers to peoples homes. Got lots of tips. :-)

No, I'm from NZ and tipping isn't really done there. It's often seems to be that more privileged people are the rude ones!
