I am over-weight by about 50 to 60 pounds, and I am inactive as my back is very painfull and I find it hard to get around. I have 3 appointments set up with specialists but they have not phoned me yet. I know that 2 of my medications cause weight problems. One is for pain the other is for chronic depression. A lot of people have told me to go off my medications (usually the depression medication)saying they were on the same medication and it made them gain weight. I don't think these people are real chronic depressants, because feeling that way all the time is hell, and I guess the extra weight is better then depression. What I would like to know is if there is anyone else out there with a similar problem and knows of a good eating program that might help even for 10 pounds. Or some good exercises that help my back strengthen so I can begin walking. I don't have a car which is good or I would probably weigh more. Thankyou, ceciliah

Cutting out dairy helps to reduce weight as I've lost about a half a stone through not eating anything with milk in it. As for your back how about swimming, that is a good all round exercise and there would be no pressure on your back as the water supports your body. Ask your doctor first to find out if yoga would be okay for you to do as it will also help alleviate back pain and with the added bonus of helping with depression.
