Does every fallen soldier have a live soldier accompany his/her body home?

Does this happen? I saw an email about this and I wondered if anyone knows. It sounds like a great idea but don't know if it does. xoxoxoxoxo

I think it would be nice if the soldier that accompanied the fallen soldier home would be released from further duty as a tribute to the fallen soldier.

I can't speak for other branches of the service, but I know in the Marine Corps the remains of the deceased is always accompanied by a fellow Marine, usually someone that was close to him. It is an honor to be chosen as escort and to represent the Marine Corps to the family.

I think I read this was going to happen for Aussie fallen soldiers after the big mix up of the wrong body being sent home, I think this is a good idea as they the soldiers have paid the ultimate price they deserve to be treated with respect in the end...
