I am one that taken a course in college and do not practice what I learned from school. It doesn't mean that I learned nothing but the present job that I have do not require such knowledge or skill. So my course may not apply to my work. I am an electronics technology graduate, with knowledge in television, radio and other electronics gadget repair and engineering. Our television set (TV) at home has some problems but I do not want to check it or I don't have time to fix it. That is just an example. I just bring the TV to a repair shop and let them fix the problem. Do you still practice your profession, the one that you took from college? Is it your first course or you have taken another course, a second course? Are you one of us? KEEP SMILING = NEIL

My current job is well beyond my field. But I do perform my expertise outside. Doing some trouble shooting of home appliances and electrical is something I want and always perform. I don't want to waste money for all the simple things I can do with my own ability, thus, I was learning from it. However, when it is critical and it is beyond my knowledge and capabilities, that is the only time that I will consult or bring the appliances to the expert person. I do electrical layout for household in our area and gaining some thank you from them.because they are mostly relatives. But to other people, I do charge them for a few bucks. Computer trouble shooting is also my habit because I was learning a lot doing this stuff.

Hi neildc, for now I am not working with the same field I graduated. I'm under board, but I'm planning to take this year. So I can work and use my knowledge and skills as well but frankly I don't like my course., If I have time and money I want to study and take another course.

I was taking business administration in college. I learned a lot of new things. Whenever I learned something new, I tried to apply it whenever I could to my current job and to any subsequent jobs I have had since. I love learning and I think the only way to retain what you learned is to use it.

Hello Neil, why would you give it to another and pay for this when you have the knowledge and understanding. Is it that you were weak in some areas and afraid that something will explode on you.Just kidding. I know alot of persons who does the same thing that you do. Giving the job to someone else because in doing this you are contributing to this person income and it is commendable. My profession is Secretarial Studies and since joining MYLOT I have been typing alot. My speed has been improve on a daily basis. So I guess I am still practicing.

Hi there! Yes, I am currently practicing the things I learned from my course in college. But there was also some time in the past that I did not. I graduated a Bachelor of Arts (major in English) degree in college and luckily attached a Master's to it some few years back. I am at present a Corporate Communications Officer of a company here in our locality and most of the time I do content writing and editing for our website. But there was a time in the past that I didn't practice that much of my profession; I had a three-year experience as a Store Manager of a famed fast-food company. I learned a lot from such experience--learnings I didn't get from from my courses in college.

I am a Computer Engineer, at least that's what my diploma told me, hehehe. But I never really spent my 6 years of professional life in that field. I was never given the chance to troubleshoot and repair computers, connect a local or wide area network or engineer my own technology piece. Let's just say we live in an unjust society, unfree of discrimination and stereotyping. I am anyway a woman trying to fit in a man's world. So I became a College Instructor, a Technical Writer, a Software Engineer (Programmer), a Systems Analyst and a Social Media (Blogs) Buyer in different companies all in 6 years! Well, I had fun in all those jobs, I love teaching as much as I love singing and writing, so being a College Instructor and a Trainer was really great. I also found out that programming is cool though others see me as a geek for being a Software Engineer. Me? A geek? No way! Hehehe. Being a Systems Analyst put me on my element as well since I love thinking up of solutions to problems and I really dig innovations. Well, as of evaluating blogs, I like writing and reading blogs so being a Media Buyer is not bad after all. But my biggest frustration is HARDWARE. Way back in College, my favorite subjects were Mathematics, Digital Circuits, Electronics and Logic. I just love connecting wires and integrated circuits with all those diodes, capacitors, resistors, timers, flip-flops and other circuit electronic devices. I feel like Einsten everytime I finish a project, what a feeling! Ah! Those days are gone! I let it go just like that and now I'm missing it. I think I missed my calling... :(

Hi Neil-I have never had a qualification and just worked however and whatever I can thats mainly been in an office, now I wouldn't bother with qualifications as sometimes you can be over qualified for a job or under qualified so either way you don't get a job!! your friend littleowl

I graduated with a degree in Psychology. But I am working as a spanish translator for 5 years now. My first love was languages but I was advised if I take the bachelor of arts route, I wouldn't be able to make full use of my scholarship. But I'm fine with it. It pays a lot than trying to be a shrink.

Yes I do and no I don't. lol.why? My major is BS secondary education, but i'm not teaching in High School, I don't like to because it's a lot of work. The good thing is, I'm teaching online. Using the computer and the internet phone, so I don't need to compute grades or anything, just talk, type evaluations while chatting, mylotting, and so on. I didn't even think about teaching after college, I used to apply in the bank and in the mall, and now i'm pulled by my course. I think it should be, that's what you studied about so ure good at it, therefore u'll excel and succeed with it.
