Do any of you keep getting these emails and how does it work? As I can paste Im not gonna type out the whole thing suffice to say that CEO Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission want information from me to receive 5,400,000USD. I know they are a scam and very dangerous but I cant figure out how they do it. Anyone out there understand the technicalities?

Ive started to do that too, ignoring is good, but I wish we could do more to stop it, some people get really stitched by these practices. Thanks so much for your input.

Glad you know it's a scam. Not sure how they did it, but there was a story a few months back about a guy who scammed the scammers. He acted like he was interested and got in contact with them. After collecting all of their information, he notified the police. Not sure what happened after that. There was also an investigative reported from one of the networks who did something similar only he actually went over the Nigeria to confront the scammers. When he showed up, they scattered like cockroaches.

Thanks tony, thats brilliant! Wish I'd thought of that. Scamming the scammers. I wish people would stop trying to rip of others, we all need to make a living and stealing and ripping off is just not acceptable. I appreciate your input. Thanks

No I do not know how or why they think we are that stupid, but my spam filter on AOL weeds them out pretty good. I have keywords for the spam filter to look for. so I guess I better not make any friends in Nigeria.

Nice one, lol! If you are Nigerian use a different country on your profiles. I actually dont think any of them are from Nigeria anyway, but that seems to be the country they pretend to be from each time. Thanks for your response.

No, it's a well known spam, it's dated back years ago. I've received a warning email about those. Yes, I remember it's a nigerian that sends email. It's a well known spam as well as a bigtime scam. We have lots of that kind of scams in the philippines and it's send through sms. Don't believe taht, 5,400,000 is such a ridiculous amount, the only one I know earning that amount are athletes.

You know thats my problem. Living in a very underpopulated and behind the times infrastructure, Ive been off line for years, now Im catching up, and am dismayed at the amount of tat and scamming going on. I know this is only one, but I just wanted to understand what they gain and how. Thanks very much for your response.
