new disussion vs responses, I am clueless!!!

sorry i've posted it under make extra money, I can't find my mylot interest icon.
Anywys, what's the difference of discussions to responses in terms of contribution to the mylot community? which will net you more? Because i found this discussion about 25 discussions a day will net you more, and that epic $1000 target post that proposes around 1000 discussions...so i am just wondering.

Wish there was a chart of points allotment for reference. This only creates confusion. Is there a way we could suggest that?
