Unable to use Google messenger while playing songs in Winamp 5.5

I am currently using the Google messenger. Just a few days back, I had upgraded the Winamp player to version 5.5. After upgrading, I am unable to use the Google messenger while playing the Winamp 5.5 player. What happens is as soon as I launch the Winamp5.5 player, the Google messenger freezes, I get a message that it's not responding and it shuts down. This has happened many times and I just do not know what to do. Before the upgrade, I was able to use both at the same time without any problems at all. Help.
