I just received my cell phone bill and to my surprise it isn't as high as I thought it would be. I have moved to another province so almost all of my calls are long distance. I talked a lot to my mom last month as she just sold her house and needed to talk to me about some of the problems she is having and needed my advice to help her. I also have talked to my ex-husband tons of times so I expected my cell bill to be really high this month, around $100. To my surpise my cell phone bill was only $48. So the long distance calls weren't as high as I thought they would be. I am so happy about that, as I can't afford, right now, a hugh bill, as I am just starting to get back on my feet. So do you make a lot of long distance calls on your cell and do you pay a lot for them? How big was your cell phone bill this last month?

I do not make any long distance calls with my cell phone. It is for emergencies. You just have a really good plan. I remember when I started my cell phone contract, the cost was almost $32 and then it went down to under $31.00 so I guess it does get cheaper as you go along. I suspect that part of that was due to the free time you are allowed on your contract. I use Rogers, because my son uses it and it has the longest range. What provider do you use?

My cell phone is with Telus. This month my bill was almost $60.00. The long distance charges are almost $20 and I didn't even talk much long distance. Now what I am doing is phoning the person and asking them to call me back so they get the long distance charge and it is a lot cheaper than by cell phone, to call from a land line. I don;t have a landline because I have a cell I don't think I need another expense.

That is what my sister-in-law does. She gets them to call her back on their land lines. We use Shaw Digital ourselves, and we do not have any long distance. I do wish they would have the same thing offered with cell phones because it would be much cheaper since many are abandoning their land lines for cell phones, especially those who may have to move now and again.

Telus has a cell phone long distance plan but if you don't use it every month it is a waste of money. It costs $50 a month for as much long distance calling as you want but I think that is way too much and they should lower it. I am sure not a lot of people are on that plan.

I really dont make long distance calls and also my cellphone uses credit which is a pay as you go system ,consequently as soon as my credit runs out then the talk time also runs out.Long distance calls are very expensive here and if I hooked up with the company like you did I would definitely have a huge bill. The only way I could avoid that would be to sign up for a package that offers reduced rates on long distance calls

I used to have a pay as you go phone and after about a year it worked out cheaper for me to sign onto a plan.
