Mine is spiders. When one gets on me I start hyperventilating and totally lose it. My husband cant understand my fear and why I act like this. I hve always been like this and I really dont know the root of the problem. But sometimes I feel like I am the only one who has some weird phobia. Does anyone else have some fear or phobia as well.

I have a definite phobia of cockroaches. I also have a fear of falling. Most people say that's just a fear of heights but I have no fear of heights at all. I can stand on the roof and clean out the gutters, I can ride on a tall ferris wheel, I can stand on top of the Sear's Tower and it doesn't bother me. But the second I don't feel secure (whether I actual am or not) then I start to panic and have to get down from where I am immediately before I go into a full blown anxiety attack. That's about it for phobias for me!

I am afraid of of the dark. It's one primal human fear. We're afraid of things that we can't see, but might be out there. That's why I usually sleep with the lights on, or with somebody I know close to me. I am also afraid of cockroaches. I know it's irrational, but a lot of phobias are. They're just creepy, icky, they crawl, and they fly. I guess it started when a roach bit me one night, while I was sleeping, and I had a nasty, itchy, black-and-blue bruise when I woke up in the morning. My boyfriend's afraid of deep water. He says it started when his father kept dunking him in vats of water to discipline him as a boy. I think a lot of phobias are, as I said, irrational, but some of them have basis in events that happen during our growing up and development.

I really hate being afraid and I try to correct this. Right now there are no phobias that get me, as far as I know. I am still afraid of some things but I think about it and find that the fears disappear when you confront them. Cheers!!

I have a great fear of a deep water. i can swim, but the idea of not feeling the ground under my feet makes me panic a lot. I think that a root for this fear is my childhood: i had to attend classed to learn how to swim, and as i was rather short, the pool i had to swim at didn't have a reasonable depth for me. i wish i could learn to swim by myself, lol.

I fear centipedes. When I see a big one, I totally freak out. Being a man that I am, I am not ashamed, because they really look creepy. Man I hate those. And the worst thing is, some keep on invading the shower room!!!

Mine is definitely spiders, although water and heights rank up there too. But spiders - ugh. I used to scream and run, but I have grown up a bit. Imagine my fear when I found 5 tarantulas on my screen porch last spring? I killed them by beating them with my crutch. LOL Although my neighbors said I shouldn't since they kill pests. Ummm to me tarantulas ARE pests. Since then I won't sit on my screen porch at night and I never ever go out there barefoot anymore.

Cockroaches - I hate them. The smell, and the scratchy sounds they made in the dustbin. And those that fly are even worse. I remember very well, once when one of these creatures landed on my hair - I can still feel it, uggghs!!

I don't react that badly so perhaps mine is not a phobia but like you I really don't like spiders. In fact, it made me spooked just reading that your phobia was spiders and I had to check there aren't any about. Luckily there aren't any big poisonous ones in England. I am also not very good with heights especially in windy places - I feel I am going to be blown off!!

I'm scared of moths and butterflies. I don't like bugs flying at me and they always seem to be attracted to me. I know they are not harmful but I freak out when they get near me. Other than that I would say my other fear would be being alone either for the rest of my life or just a very long time. I like to have my privacy at certain times but I'm happiest in the company of others.
