Is there a drive-in movie near you?

At one time there were 8 different drive-in movie theaters in the area of the city where I live and now there is only one. It is slowly getting creeped up on by houses and businesses, but does a great business and many years ago added a second screen and does a great business, especially on the weekends, when there have been times that they have had to turn cars away. When I was in my 40's I worked there for 4 years and had a great time. My boss was younger than I was and most of the other employees were teenagers, but most worked very hard, even though we made little money since they were not required to pay minimum wage since it is a seasonal job......I think that has changed since I worked there. I have several questions for discussion.........is there a drive-in near you? How far away is it? Have you ever worked at one? How many screens does it have? Does it do good business?

Theres only one. They've slowly been dissapearing. But I do know that they make good money, as all the young lovers want to go take their date to something special.

There is only the one near here and I think the closest are a couple of hours away. The one I worked at made good money and I know the owner owned another as well as 2 other theaters, that he doesn't have anymore. There are as many families who go to them as there are young lovers! It costs much less than the regular theaters for 2 movies. I always liked going. Thanks for responding.

There aren't any drive in theaters around where I live. We have alot of regular movie theaters though. I think it would be nice to have one! They sound like alot of fun!

They are alot of fun. I grew up going to them, went to them as a teen, took my children to them and then was lucky enough to work there as an adult and had my daughters working with me! There are 2 screens where I worked and one of the years I was there, it made Playboy Magazine's top 10 in the country!! It is less expensive than the theaters and you get to see 2 movies from the comfort of your car using your radio!! If you ever get the chance, try it. Thanks for the response.

We used to have a really good drive in movie at the cottage. It may sill be there, I don't know. Haen't been to Dad's cottage in years. A long time aho when he mothers and their kids stayed there all week, we'd all pile into cars and go see the newest movies at that drive in. I remember seeing A League Of Their Own, and City Slickers, there.

My sister and I used to go all the time when we had all the ones here. I used to have scrapbooks that I kept all the tickets taped into. I remember going with my sister and a friend to see Woodstock and I wasn't old enough but used my sister's ID and got in. I took my granddaughter to see Tarzan.....and my daughter and her friend to see Matrix, and didn't understand it a bit. That is just a few that I can think of!! One of the nice things about working there was that we got so many free admits a month, but I never used mine. I was there working too much!! Thanks for the response.
