are these line parallel??

can anyone tell me if these lines are parallel or not? how can people make these kind of illusions...when you see it first u feel the lines are not straight....and when you observe it closely you will see that each line is parallel to the other...can anyone tell me how illusions are created.

Hehehe, I saw many pictures similar to this one,and they always amaze me each time.. I saved it to my computer and zoomed,and if I follow just the lines with my eyes I can see they are straight,if I look at the whole pic they seem to be waving...so my guess is they don't look straight because of the squares,they were positioned in such way that they seem to be going up and down..it's a great illusion..this only shows us one more time how our eyes can be fooled..and maybe the reality is not the way we see it
