I am a huge Stephehn King Fan, and i recently found out that they are making a movie about The Talisman. I was excited about it first, till I found out that it is going to be a mini series. What saddens me about that is after watching The Stand and seeing the mess that was, and all the changes they made to it, I am not sure that I really want to see this movie. I am afraid that it will be the same as the stand. What do you think about this? Do you like movies that have been made from books you have read? Are there some that have followed the book close enough in your opinion to make great movies in the spirit that the orginal book was written?

I try not to ever watch a movie after having read the book as I know what Hollywood will do to the story By the same token I never read the book after having seen the movie

If I were to do that fwid, I would never watch another movie. I am a very advid reader and there are times that movies really surprise me. Interview of a Vampire was a good example as well as Trans pointed out the shawshank redemption and the green mile. I do more reading than anything else so I guess I need to just throw the TV away lol.

Considering all the garbage that is on these days, being without a television wouldn't be all that harmful to anyone

Hey there Sugar, King is one of my heroes, I have read just about everything he has written. What is going to make the difference in the series, vs the book is whether or not king is on the team in making the mini series. Yes I so loved the book, The stand, but I also think they did the best they could with the Mini series. I thought, and I am a hard critic it was pretty good. Another good thing that I see with the Talisman being a mini series rather than a movie is that that means they will include more components of the book. 4 to 6 hours compared to a 2 hour movie means we get to see Jack and his mother so much better. I have not heard they were making this a mini series, where did you see it?

I was surfing youtube and saw a trailor for it. So I did a search and found that Speilburg is actually taking a part in the making of the 6 part miniseries. So it might be a good thing!! The only thing that worries me about it is the editing they will have to do so that it fits into the confines of a mini series. Did you ever see kingdom hospital? that was a good one too I loved the creepy opening music!! Oh BTW I tried to email you and it was returned to me as adressee unknown. don't know why i copied it from the post you sent to me.

I've never heard of this one but I really like Stephen King so I'm sure it'll be great. Of course I always get more out of the books b/c they can have so much more detail to them but I always like his movies as well. I'll be looking for this one...thanks for letting me know about it. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

I like stephen king, I used to read every one of his books but I have not read one now for a long time. I do tend to stay away from watching the movie as I just do not think that it is the same at all, I am happier to just read the book.

Some of the movies are good. Not all of them though. The Stand was the worst in my opinion. A lot of them though followed enough that it wasn't a total loss. Since speilburg is going to be part of the project it might turn out to be really good. If he were to do the gunslinger series as movies like they did with star wars for instance it might actually be really great!
