Responding to as many discussions as possible is key, but it is also important to make sure that your responses are of good quality, and not just one or two word responses. Another excellent way to make money here, and probably the best way, is through refferals. Having many active refferals can generate decent income here even when you are not able to be very active.

I earned 2 and a half dollar yesterday because of doing the following: 1.responding to 100+ posts 2.rating the responses and discussions 3.posting 3 discussions. So if you want to earn either respond to good discussions and rate them, or post as many interesting discussions as you can, and rate the responses.

All activity counts, be it starting discussions or responses so get to doing that (with the quality content as the FAQ says)and you will gain some sort of reputation also and some people will also start to respond to your discussions. The only reason I would respond to something is if I have something worthwhile to say, or I feel the need to express something about a particular subject. The best way to get responses is to pick a subject that, firstly you either are informed about, or you want to know about. Then start a discussion and hope people either like what you say and agree, or sometimes even better, that they disagree and feel the need to say so. Go on, write something you have an opinion on and see what happens.
