I have decided to make this discussion and ask all you mylotters out there, what would you do if a dog came into your yard?Would you ignore it?Would you chase it out of the yard?Would you shoot it?What if it was a neighbors dog? What if the dog attacked one of your dogs?Would you shoot it?Would chase it off?If you knew who it belonged to would to cuss them out?Would you tell them to keep their dog out of your yard or next time you would shoot it?Would you call the pound and have the dog taken away? The reason that I am posting about this is because Wednesday night about eight o clock a neighbor from down the road was walking their dog,it was not on a leash and it wandered into our yard, our two chihuahuas were outside, and they chased the dog out of the yard, and the dog turned around and bit the biggest chihuahua whose name is Cracker,my mom saw it and she told the lady to stay with Cracker while she took the other chihuahua Peanut into the house and got,my father,my fiance and me,we got a blanket and wrapped him up and took him to the emergency animal hospital, and after x-rays were done they said that the bite had punctured one of his lungs and air was escaping, she said he was stable but the next couple hours would tell, and that if he got worse that she would call, and that no news is good news,so we came home, and we were all worried about him, about seven am my mom called and the vet said that he was doing fine and that he could be transported to our primary vet to be watched over more,so we went and picked him up,and took him to the other vet,who looked at the report and looked at him,and said that he thought he was good enough to go home and to keep Peanut away from him for a couple days, and to bring him back this morning so they can examine the wound and change his bandage,so we brought him home, and my dad took Peanut to a guy he works with, and we are supposed to get him back on Monday,he seems to be doing better this morning, and he is moving around a lot more, even though apparently at some point he pulled his catheter out of his paw,and chewed on his bandage,I was so mad at that dog, that I said that if I ever see it in our yard again,or if it ever comes after the chihuahuas again,I will put that dog down,my mom and dad said we would start walking Peanut and Cracker on a leash to keep this from happening, and my dad went up to talk to the owners of the other dog to tell them that they better keep it on a leash, and he said if they do not put it on a leash and it comes into our yard he will shoot it,and I do not blame him,and I think that the owners should have to pay for what happened since it was their faults for not teaching their dog to obey, and the woman did not seem to do anything about it other than say she was sorry, which is some major crap if you ask me,also apparently she did not tell her husband and my father told him yesterday morning, and the husband tried to make excuses saying that our chihuahuas wandered into their yard,Do you think I am wrong for wanting to hurt the other dog?I do not have a recent picture of Cracker but I do have a picture of him when we first got him which I have added to this discussion, and hopefully me and my fiance will be able to get some pictures of him after he is healed, and I will share them with anyone who wants to see them,I will appreciate all responses to this discussion and just like with all my other discussions please take this serious, because to me this is a very serious matter,I will comment on all responses I get,and the more quality put into the response the more I will comment, have a great day.

I am a dog lover. Your story is sad and I hope that your unfortunate chihuauaha recovers and gets back to normal. If I had dogs I would try to make sure that it was safe for my dogs, either by putting some kind of fence, otherwise I would not leg my dogs roam freely in the yard. If I were you I would charge the dog;s owner for not keeping his dog on a leash and send him the vet's bills.

Hi hellcowboy, First of all, this is the fault of your neighbor..They know that you have dogs which are smaller than what she got, so , she should be vigilant and be in control of her dog! I don't blame you for feeling that way because you only care about your dog and we want to punish the wrong behavior of their dog but hopefully, your neighbor will be more watchful and careful this time! I remember my Dad, no matter how dog lover he is once our dog will commit any mistakes, he will always punish them by spank and they always behave and know when to stop once they will see Dad! Hopefully, your dog will be able to recover and that not be attacked again by the other dog!

Where i live is actually the city, but in the neighborhood people just let their dogs run wild. I have had many dogs in my yard and have come to know most of them by name. when i was younger i had a dog that was attacked while i was walking him, he was a pretty strong dog (mix of wolf and english bulldog) and he sent the other dog off bloody. I was traumatized. I was just walking my dog and out of nowhere another dog attacks. It was the scariest thing. I think if people are going to have pets then they need to be responsible for them. I do not blame you for wanting to have the other dog put down or anything like that, I would probably feel the same if my chi had been attacked. As far as them not taking responsibility for the cost, i would be sueing someone.
