Of course it does. Swimming can consume a lot of your energy even you don't move because the temperature is lower than your body. If you swim regularly, the fat will be consumed by and by and you will lost weight. What is more, it can make you more shapely if you often go swimming.

I hear that swimming is an excellent way to lose weight! It is especially helpful for people with joint pain as you aren't weighed down by your body weight. I have heard of many people doing water arobics (is that spelled right?). Check it out on the web, I am sure that you will get plenty of helpful information. Unfortunately, I can't do laps in my pool. It's a toe dipper, couldn't be more that 15-20 feet long. By the time I try to start a lap, I'm already on the other side of the pool. lol But, your posting reminded me to check that out. That would be really good for my wife how has back problems. It would be an exercise that we could do together.

Yes, swimming is a good exercise and exercise always makes you lose your weight. So, don't be misguided that swimming will not help you lose your weight. I can't swim but I know a lot of people who do and none of them has a lot of weight.
