I'd recommend Metafilter and (if you have more time to waste) Reddit. Metafilter is a large community weblog with many posts per day. Since members pay a few to join, the posts and comments there are usually of high quality. The AskMefi section has always intrigued me--there's lots of good advice hidden in between the seams. Reddit's comments are interesting to read through--there are many gems in the comments. The sites it recommends aren't nearly of as high quality, but the comments make up. If you're interested in programming related topics (with a special emphasis on functional programming languages), then the programming subreddit might suit your taste.
