I want to know how many parents have kids who have cell phones and at what age did they get them? I have a 9 year old daughter who got a cell phone for her birthay from her aunt. I still think shes a little young but then again think its a good idea because its a crazy world now. I didn't have a cell phone until I was 18, why is a such a big deal for our kids to have them now. I want to know if parents think this is good idea, how young is to young for a cell phone?

I will give each of my children cell phones when they enter middle school - I need to be able to get in touch with them, and they need to be able to get in touch with me. Of course, I want their cell phones to have that GPS tracking just in case, and there will also be very strict rules - until they pay the bill, the cell is to be used only in emergencies or only to contact family. As long as the kids understand the rules and don't abuse the priviledge, I see no problem with kids having cell phones - although the ones that have them before reaching double digits freak me out a bit.

I told my 8yr old he can buy his own cell phone when he can earn enough money to pay his own bill and sign a contract for it himself. #:)
