I think the only thing good about Windows is that there are thousands of specialized programs available that are not in linux. If all those programs were available in linux then it is no contest linux would be the best choice because it has better security, stability and performance too!.Right now I have Mepis Linux with win xp in a virtual machine. So I get the best of both worlds.Mepis is ridiculously easy to set up and use and can heartily recommend it to anyone who wants an alternative to Windows.I've heard so much rotten stuff about Vista I don't want any computer that has it.

Well, they are doing great because of the simplest using for the windows operating systems that they do. Yes they have their faults no one is perfect here in computers, and always there must be faults, and because Microsoft become the common and famous company all over the world there are must be someone can defeat them in some parts. I think no one can deny that Microsoft did a very good job in institutionalizing the software industry, setting the standards, even its imperfections lead to something very useful to a lot of people. Its marketing strategy is one of the most sound approach in our history. If not for microsoft we wont have open source and freeware applications. I would say Microsoft will never leave the shadow of a computer. I believe too that Vista will have its time too like all microsoft windows.
