i know, this is going to sound like a very strange post, but it's something i'm thinking about, lol. ever notice how so many disney movies lack a mother figure? or something horribly tragic has happened to the mother in the story? what is with that? i'm sure this scares children! the little mermaid - no mother cinderella - evil step mother snow white - no mother the lion king - mother gets beat up by another lion near the end dumbo - mother in prison the list goes on and on! i don't know what to think of it, lol! i think it could give kids a real complex and make them worry about the safety of their own mothers.

You know, i never really thought about it lol. but i guess you are right. bambi's mother gets shot. nemo's mother gets eaten by a fish. princess jasmine from aladin, i'm not sure if they ever said what happened to her mother. in peter pan atleast the kids have both parents. i wonder if it was intentional by the creaters or if it just happened that way.

I have noticed this also. I don't know why they do this. I kind of think it is wrong. It wouldn't bother me if it was just one or two, but why does something happen in so many? Let's not forget about bambi -- that made me cry when the mother passes away. Ok so If it made me cry, don't you think it would make kids cry? I mean i was younger when I saw it but still. A kids movie shouldn't make the kids cry or be sad at all, it should make them happy and laugh. Don't you agree? What is with that?

The producers are trying to get the sympathy of movie-goers. People usually pity those that do not have mothers. And about animal-based cartoons, it's usually the mom's that take care of the babies (except for some species), so the producers think movie-goers cry buckets over babies that lose their moms. Would'nt you? 8)
