would you ever make a false bid on eBay?

I was watching Reba the other day and she was trying to sell her wedding ring on eBay, well her ex husband found out about it and tried to win the bid, well to prevent him from getting it she went on and out bid her own auction. I guess that's OK if it's your own auction or it was your item that someone else was selling. but would you ever make a false account to make a bid on your item hoping that someone else would out bid you, or to get the bidding war started? I wouldn't it's dishonest. but do you think people have actually done that or do you know of anyone who has?

That's not something I would ever do, because who knows? I might end up holding the bag, and that means I would have talked myself right out of a sale. As for Reba, that's one of my favourite shows. I thought I saw all the episodes, but I certainly don't remember this one. I remember when she and Brock were talking to eachother in an on-line casino room, but not the episode you mentioned.

I've heard of someone doing that once, though he claims it wasn't out of driving the price up... According to him, towards the end of the month, he was little short on his rent so he decided to put something up for auction on ebay... Turns out that his landlord made on error & he actually over paid a little 2 month prior so he had $150 credit towards his rent... Being new to selling stuff on ebay, he tried to take it off the auction & not knowing what to do, he actually bid on his own thing... I'm not sure of the full details but he ended up getting little more than what he was hoping to make off the item so he just let it go...

Yes i am sure ppl have done it, in fact i am guilty of it. I am not proud of it, and i dont do it anymore, i swear. I did it the first few times i sold stuff to help bump up the bid, but ebay figured me out and i got suspended for a period of time. I learned my lesson and now i leave the stuff alone, if it dont sell it dont sell, its not worth being dishonest.
