I know there was an animated one done almost 30 years ago now. But I heard there was a live action one coming out as well. However this was several years ago, and I haven't heard anything offical yet. Has anyone heard or seen anything about this live action remake?

I saw actual images of the live action version, so either someone put a LOT of time and effort into a fake website, or it's real.

i dont know if i like the idea of a live action version of this film. its one of my favorites! apparantly, at least according to the messages on www.imdb.com the live action version is stuck in production..its lacking funding i guess. and according to one poster..he has been checking back on updates regarding production for a couple of years now, with no new news. which is a bummer. there is also some posts saying that Beagle isnt happy with the company that was considering the live action, using a horse for unicorns. to make the proper looking deer like unicorn its gonna have to be CGI. most of the posted "talk" about a live action version i can find is several years old.2001 i did find this though! which i cant find any new info on..but is neat to fans nonetheless. http://www.the-last-unicorn.net/index.htm by the way, did you know that Peter Beagle wrote a second book? its called Two Hearts.

just found this in wiki... "Continent Films In addition, a live-action adaptation of the original book has been announced as in development for several years, but it is not clear what progress (if any) has been made towards production. A minor controversy erupted in 2005 over the producers' plans to create their screen unicorn by filming trained horses and then using CGI to modify them. This runs directly counter to the physical description of the unicorn in the book, which explicitly states that the unicorn looks nothing at all like "a horned horse," and has thus upset the book's fans.[citation needed] In February 2006, Continent Films unveiled a new official website for the project which made clear that the film was still in development, not pre-production. It was not yet funded, did not have a shooting script, and had not been cast. In the new website, all actor names but Christopher Lee's had been removed; and even Mr. Lee's involvement was revealed to be nothing more than a promise to appear in the film if he was available and if terms could be worked out with his agent. On March 8, 2006, the Internet Movie Database shut down their page for the project because they were unable to verify that the film was actually being made.[citation needed] Peter S. Beagle has stated on his own website and in interviews[specify] that he is seeking to reacquire the live-action rights to his story, enabling the production of a single unified multi-film franchise. This announcement may explain why the new Continent Films website for their effort dropped the title Peter S. Beagle's The Last Unicorn in favor of simply The Last Unicorn. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Last_Unicorn so..nothing coming anytime soon..bummer

IF you are going to buy the 25Anniversary DVD..buy it straight from Conlan Press..otherwise Peter Beagle isnt getting any of the royalties from it! this site will explain everything... http://www.conlanpress.com/youcanhelp/

Wow that's what's up. Man and the shots I looked were so good on the site. Suppose we'll see what happens then, as this is something I've wondered about since I saw the site 3 or 4 years ago.
