so, my daughter's starting a full day preschool this year (its at the same place she'll go to kindergarten & all the way through middle school if we have it our way) and my wife is really nervous about it. is there anything that can calm her down? we already have met the teacher during a few "summer camps" (just weeklong classes that were fun/educational for little ones) so we're not worried about her. I think my wife is just experiencing empty nest syndrome or something... has anyone else had this problem? what did you do about it? I think my wife is planning on going back to school, but we'll see what happens there. maybe *I'm* the one that should be more worried? advice?

I think I would miss my daughter too when she goes to pre-school. At the moment, I'm spending and enjoying every minute with her. I'd probably take up a course of something. It's great that your wife is planning to go back to school. It keeps her occupied for the empty hours. Encourage her to do something during those times when your daughter is in school. Engage in some activity or exercise classes or something, may calm her down.. like yoga or something.

that's a good idea! we both need to loose a few extra pounds, and we could do it together. thanks for the advice.

Time that's it. I had the same experience. My baby went to 1/2 day prechool 2 years in a row. I cried alot. After she was on the bus. And on MOnday I am sure I will cry again. She is going to full day kindergarten. The bus will pick her up at 8:30 am and drop off at 3:30 pm. 6 Hours boy it will be quiet. I am not ready for quiet. Time is the only thing that can get us through it.

our daughter whent to a montessori preschool before this and it was only about 3 hours a day... but my wife had me there with her for the first few months (i work nights) so she didn't take it too bad... she went back to school (to get her GED) but as soon as our daughter quit going, so did my wife... I just worry about my wife too much, I guess... thanks for the reply. we'll see what time brings.

She will do fine. It usually the moms and dads that are more concerned about how our little ones will do. I have 3 boys and while they went to 1/2 day preschool they had no problems doing full day kindergarten.

are you kidding me? my daughter's counting down the days until she GETS to go back to this school... she absolutely adores her teacher and the school environment itself (from what we've seen from tours during school hours and whatnot) is just great... I'm sure that my little one will be fine. its the wife i'm worried about. but thanks for the reassurances. i'll tell my wife that everyone's saying not to worry about our daughter... lol wonder if that'll calm her down?
