Have you ever felt so used up? Burn out?

I have been working in this institution for almost 9 years now! Ninety (90) percent of my eight-year stay is not that good. I am over-worked and under-paid. I have been re-shuffled but still it won't give me any degree of satisfaction. I am only staying because of the environment, and the people, they are all like family to me and am happy being with them. What is not good is, since the management knows that i am so talented, they tend to abuse the use of my skills. In my present position, my work covers the work of 3 secretaries. Plus, when the work from other offices cannot be done at once (of which the management want to get accomplished in an instant)they would give it to me which results to bulk and bulk and bulk and bulk of work for me. I am not complaining because i cannot do it (i can of course, am multi-tasking). I am complaining because the management is not that sensitive when it comes to the personal and financial needs of its employees. People are not only motivated with praises, but with finances also. C'mon people! I need to survive not die working too much!

Yeah, I felt it before and it was a terrible feeling. It's like I really know what to do but I am just not motivated to do it as effectively as before. And most especially if you are not well compensated. Well, you could talk to your manager and tell them your situation. I mean, it's obvious you deserve at least a very good raise and/or a promotion. I perfectly understood your point that some people, just like me and you, feel better at work when praised and given compensation for the good work we're doing. They have to be sensitive as well but try to think first though before making any decisions. Just talk for the meantime and explore all your options. Think of what would benefit you the most. Take care and wish you all the best.

It's good to have a family sort of relationship with your colleagues, but if you are working so hard, getting underpaid and hardly any recognition from your employers, then either you need to drive home your point or start looking for another opportunity which give you the pleasure of work and gives you a good return as well. You need to think about this seriously before your are forced into a situation of doing it. So keep your options open.
