Help!

A good friend of mine is planning a vacation with her Mother and is thinking about either Columbia, North Carolina or Savannah, Georgia.
She has asked me to get info on internet for her...............I'm at a loss and need to ask if any of you know much about either of these places and which would offer the most for a short vacation?

First of all, I think Columbia is in SC, not NC.
If I had to choose, it would definitely be Savannah. It's a very historic city, and beautiful, right on the river.
I know there is a zoo in Columbia and it is a decent sized city, but I don't think it has anything to offer over Savannah.

Savannah is a beautiful city full of history, much like Charleston. I don't know which I like better, but they are full of things to do/see, plenty of places within walking distance, or horse-drawn carriage, bicycle, etc.
I don't think I can remember anything really good about Columbia, except I think it has a big zoo.
