Well I don't know if a few bucks here and there could be considered successful or not, but I think I'm going to take the plunge here too.

Yes, to a degree. I am happy with what I'm getting there so far, but always leary about spending money on this sort of thing. I do appreciate the input from my friends that have 'been there'.

well i think you should because if the right one would work way better during the time you need it most so just keep lingering and you will find what you are best at.
