Does "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" have the same tune as "The Alphabet Song"?

Come to think of it, I used to think that when I was little, that they sort of sounded similar. I mean, think about it. When you sing it to yourself, or better yet hum it, it sounds pretty much the same. I've never really seen anyone point it out though. Does anyone know who made these songs up? If they were both by the same person, or one person purposely made it to the same tune? Or if it really is the same tune in the first place? By the way... did you try singing the two songs above, just to try it?

Yes, it's a tune that shows up a lot. Another one that uses it is Baa, Baa Black Sheep. No one really knows who wrote it. Some say it was written by a certain Jane Taylor in England in the early 19th century. Others claim that the melody originated in 18th century France and was adapted a bit to fit Twinkle, Twinkle. I have no idea what the real stoy is but it's one of those tunes, like with many hymns, that you will find different words set to from time to time.
