Facts about shoes and boots

The first shoes were exactly the same for right and left feet. It wasn't until 1818 that paired shoes were made. Whitcomb Judson of Chicago got so tired of lacing up his boots that in 1893 he thought out a better way of fastening them.... the zip. At first it was the boots and not the fasteners that were called zips

That sounds interesting. I am writing a novelso I am interested in the footwear of various periods. I wish you had uploaded photos showing the various styles of boots and shoes from different periods of history to give us an example of what they wore, who wore them, and when.
