Teachers,can they help in more ways than one?

Have you ever had a teacher that changed your life,I did,her name was miss sykes and ahe was kind and inspiring.She was always positive about what i could do when everyone else around me was negative and trying to discourage me from pursuing the things i really wanted.She made me believe in myself.I'm writing this because i am being discouraged from pursuing what i want at the moment and i really wish i could talk to her,did anyone else have a teacher like that?

My 10th Grade Social Studies teacher Mr. Steyert was an amazing human being. He knew the course material backwards and forwards and spiced it up with something rare in 1970's public schools in the US...the truth. He told us about his life and the teacher who turned him around. I actually planned on becoming a history professor but a too young first marriage side tracked me.
