Has anyone ever bought paid to signup?

I am in two sites now that you can buy pts (paid to signup). I was just wondering if anyone has ever done it and if it is worth it? Did you get any active referrals out of it? Did you even get any paid to signup's that did the requirements for it? How long did it take to get the signups? Did your signups even confirm their email if the site has them do that?
