My baby slept through the night last night! It was the first he slept through the night. He turned 3 months that day and I was amazed that he had slept all night. Now I know this is a little late for some babies, but I still celebrate this day! Now I don't have to wake up at night and dawn to feed him. This was new to me, though I already have to older kids, they never slept through the night until they were a year old. I can't believe it. But now I am feeling a little worried because I heard that when babies are solely breastfed they still need to be fed at least once during the night. Is it true? Will my baby suffer malnutrition if I let him sleep through the night?

If he was hungry he would have woken up! Babies are quite smart when it comes to meeting their needs even when they are little. They don't sleep just to be lazy or eat because they think they have to. If he slept through the night it was because he was tired, he will eat when he's hungry. Don't be surprised if this was just a one night thing though lol! Sometimes babies just feel extra sleepy once in awhile and they give you a temporary break from the night time routine....others really do sleep through the night at an early age. Mine still wakes up to nurse during the night although he is getting much closer to morning. Once we get off the summer schedule and start getting up in time to catch the school bus at 7, he'll essentially be sleeping through the night since his early morning feed will probably coincide with the alarm clock and turn into an actual breakfast instead.

That was a very reassuring response. I just hope it's not a night only show. I hope he is really sleeping through the night? Oh how old is your baby?

Svet's pediatrician told me to let her sleep through the night instead of waking up her up to feed her. babies follow their own time and its our duties to keep up with it. Svet's also three months old, and she also does not wake up in the night, which is a good thing, because i don't wake up groggy anymore. hee hee. :p
