being the second most populous country why india is starving for the medals in case of olympics. on the other hand china is topping the list does india does not have potential players or facilities.india has to be content with only one medal each time when does the situation changes even the smaller countries in europe will get more medals but why india falter

as long as there is political involvement in India, Indian sport will never develop. Political involvement means politicians of each state will always try to promote his/her own state player for more votes back home and merit will never get a chance. Cricket has succeeded because the BCCI is independent of government intervention. See the condition of hockey and football. All categories have state level and then national level bodies to determine the player’s selection. And as we all know, these bodies are mainly busy promoting their own interest.

that is true that level of sports in india is not increasing due to politics. but, you said BCCI is independent of govt. intervention is not true. the BCCI president Sharad Powar is also a MP of congress. take care peace.

Yes, Sharad Pawar is an MP but what I meant was that BCCI hadsthe choice of appointing its own president while the other major sport bodies are govt. organized.
