I have written chapter 14 of my novel in my blog and I'm now debating inwardly with my characters. Sometimes, I feel with them, feel their pains and the dilemma they go through. If you have read Sophie's World", you'll know what I mean. The characters in my story are alive and real to me. I often dream about them and their own aspirations. They say that a writer has a little bit of her in each character that she creates, and I think this is true. It's like I'm living through their difficulties and joys. Sometimes, my eyes are wet?!!(smiles) I would be interested to know what you think of this? Is it normal? Do you feel the same way too? Or am I alone and it is because I'm just a sentimental fool? Your inputs would be most appreciated.

well.. it is a well known fact that whatever u do throughout the day inspires ur dreams. u dream all that u did that day. n the more u concentrate on a thing with ur heart n soul into it, the more u get involved n u feel such things around u. so the fact that u see ur characters alive shows how much u r into ur novel... keep up the good job.

I feel something like that when I sit to write something - I do not call them story as I'm not a professional writer. Anyway, I feel for those characters and I believe it is perfect for you to feel for your character. Our language teacher, who is also an eminent writer in my local language, told me once that he could recall even the dresses his characters would wear on a certain day. This is involvement and it shows that you have developed a great passion for the characters you have created. Keep it up.

When watching a really good movie or television series, I have found emotions I didn't know I had, and that's no exaggeration. Fun flicks make me want to laugh, but I can hold my laughter when I want to. While laughter is controllable, sadness is not, nor anger, and, while you can bottle up anger, sudden shock or annoyance can really tick you off.

I was really pleased to read your post because I go through exactly the same thing. There's one particualr chapter I've re-written several times and each time it's made me well up when I'm writing it and reading it over. Some of my characters frustrate me when I start writing a story because I always feel like they're a whole character already, but I just haven't discovered everything about them yet. With some characters they're very quick to show you what they're about but with others it takes time to get to know them.
