Sap on Car

Hello all, Does anyone know a good way to remove sap (from a pine tree, I believe) from a car windshield? There is a lot on my car and I'm having a time getting it off! It's like glue stuck on there. I'd appreciate any suggestions! Thanks and have a great day!

I really don't know but if the other suggestions don't work for you how about trying peanut butter - I know that removes gum from hair and cloths, something in the peanut oil desolves 'gum' - sap is pretty much the same I would think.

Just make sure you use smooth not chunky :) I'm sure there's nothing in it that would hurt and who knows - it might work.

I've had the best luck with a commercial wax and grease remover.

Best thing I've found that works consistenly is non-acetone nail polish remover. Works like a charm every time.

Whatever you do, don't use anything rough as you will get scratches on the glass. I know a kid who decided to use a brillo pad. Mmmh, yeah, easy off, but circular scratches all over the window. He ended up having to replace it. It will cause scratches elsewhere on the car, too. Dry pine tree sap is hard to get off. Try and see if a blow dryer will liquify it again (at least a little bit). Then you can slowly try and wash it off with hot water and dishsoap. It's a long and tedious process. Good luck!

Awww you poor Dear! I wish I could help you! I know that has to be driving you nuts! Maybe call a nearby car wash. One that washes the car for you or does detail work and ask if they have any suggestions!

Thank you, Louise! I may have to go to a carwash if I can't get it off myself. Take care!

There should be some sort of detergent at walmart or the like stores in your area that washes cars and desolves tree sap off as well. Sounds like you need a car cover for sap is really damaging to car paint. Or you could hire a tree trimmer and have them trim the tree branches back away from your driveway.

I don't know, all I would think to use would be just plain dishwashing soap and water, use a soft rag, don't use anything harsh or it can scratch your windshield. I don't know what else would be good to use...hope that helps...have a good day
