I sold my first article to Associated Content!

I've written some articles and been published at Triond, but the latest one I submitted for upfront payment at AC and they bought it! They offered $3.11 and I took it, I figure that's pretty good since I'm not very experienced at all and this is the first article I ever submitted to them. But now I have a question for people who've been published at AC. When exactly will the article be up on their site? I can't quite figure that out. Will they send me an email to let me know? I already did the Paypal confirmation and they sent me the email that says I'll be paid in 3 to 5 business days, but when I go to "my content" on the site it still says "processing" and I can't actually find a link to the article. So does "processing" mean the payment or the actual publication of the article on the site, or both?

Congrats, I have thought about trying to write for Associated Content but haven't tried yet. Are they really picky, have you submitted other articles before? About 8 years ago I wrote for our school newspaper and loved it. Hmmm maybe I will give it another try. Congrats on the article. Let us all know when it is posted so we can read it too. Good luck.

This is the very first article I submitted to them and frankly I was shocked they offer me a payment for it. Maybe they're not picky, or maybe it was just good. LOL It was on a subject I know a lot about, but it wasn't really all that long, less than 800 words I think.

Associated Content is a bit picky about what they'll pay upfront for, but they will publish almost anything for performance payments. It's a good site and has paid me reliably for over a year now. It can be frustrating to not be offered upfront payment, but I just resubmit it for performance payments - one article that I did this with was actually put on their front page for a day! The best part is I get to write about WHAT I want to write about WHEN I want to - no deadlines. Give it a shot!

So I can write something and as long as I don't do the upfront payment it should get in? About how much usually do they pay for that? Does it matter how many words? How much do you generally make a day/week/or year?

First, congrats on your very first upfront payment! I was excited about mine too. 3.11's not bad at all, fairly average. As far as the publication, it can take anywhere from one day after accepting the offer to nearly a week - my last one took a week. You'll usually receive your payment first. AC will send you and email when it is published, and it will included tools you can use to promote your content. I hope that answers your question! Congrats again.

Well I got my payment already! I hope they publish the article soon so I can give the URL to people. You can get paid for performance payments on the articles they paid for upfront too, right?

Yes, absolutely you get performance payments on upfronts too. I'll have to look for your article when it's up!
