Every time I start a discussion or post a message, I get an option to tag it. I used to do it before but lately Ive been skipping it. Whats the big use of it anyway? Is it helpful when people search for a discussion?

I don't bother with tagging my replies, I can't see the purpose in it and never could. I do tag my discussions, because when I started doing this, it did seem to help in getting more replies. Also I myself use the search option often and noticed the tags do help me find others posts.
