If i recall correctly from World History Friday the thirteenth was deemed unlucky back in the middle ages when the king of France decided that he didn't like the fact that he owed large amounts of money to the Knights Templars 'cause he liked to wage wars.
So the King of France, Philip IV, got Pope Boniface VIII to decree that the Knights Templars were heretical. Said that they were satan worshipers.
Pope agreed. So a secret order was issued to arrest and/or execute all Templars on...October Friday 13th 1307.
Thus was the downfall of the Knights as well as the myth that Friday the 13th was an unlucky day.
It's only unlucky if you make alot of people angry. ;)
