I am also wanting to buy a new laptop. I have one at the moment, but it is terrible. It is a windows ME. Nuff said. I have a desktop so I don't need a brilliant one, but I am planning to buy a cheapish, new, windows XP. I really only want one for typing and occasionaly connecting to internet. Sorry I can't be any real help. Maybe you should specify what you need it for (Typing, internet, gaming, everything, etc).

Hey, I strongly recommend laptops from Dell. I personally own a Dell XPS M1530, and it just rocks. If you want something a cheaper(about Rs4-5k less), you can go for their Inspiron series, which is great for personal use. To order from Dell, you'll have to configure the laptop from their site www.dell.co.in and then a customer care person will call you. It takes quite some time for delivery in India as the laptop gets manufactured in Malaysia, then reaches Bangalore and then our homes. HP is also a strong brand here, but I personally like Dell more. They have better components for the same price. Cheers!
