"EMO Girl", "EMO Boy" They call themselves that way. You can identify them because they wear black outfits, have long hair bangs, wear black nail polish and eyeliner. They're like goths. What's happening to the kids? I was so shocked one time when I saw the wrist of my student. She cut herself with a blade. I asked her why she did that, she said nothing. She even showed me the picture from her cellphone of her bleeding wrist and she was giggling. It's so alarming. I learned that she has a problem with her mom, she could not express her emotions so she cut her wrist. Her classmate told me that she was influenced by this EMO thing. I saw on the net some pictures where EMO girls and boys cut their wrist and pinch their skins with needles and pins. What I know of EMO is a type of music, but what I see in kids are different. What does EMO really mean?

Emo is short for emotional. I don't like the term. I think it is rude and a stereotype. If someone is having emotional problems they are just labeled and made fun of while others just do it for the attention. The ones doing it for the attention are the ones who created the stereotype in the first place. Now people laugh and joke saying things like "why dont you just go and cut your wrists" not even realizing the magnitude of the issue, not seeing the true danger and the deep morbidity of what these kids are feeling and doing. I guess everyone is just supposed to be completely happy all the time. I guess everyone just gets everything easy, everything handed to them.
