Scams

There are endless discussions here in mylot on ptc and various online scams. This post is about a real life scam. I drove a friend and her parents to a presentation this morning by a company called - timeshare relief. Anyone who has any experience with timeshares probably knows that value to cost, timeshares seem like scams (in my opinion anyway). This company is based on the premise that timeshares are scams and they will get you out of yours. The letter sent to timeshare owners like my friend says they will make an offer or offers on your timeshare. So we drove 40 minutes each way to see what kind of offer they would make. I thought it would be pennies on the dollar, I was too optimistic. Their "offer" after a 20 minute rant on how bad timeshares are was to take them off your hands for a fee. What fee you might wonder, $3,000 per timeshare!!!. This is a new one on me. Thought I had mostly seen it all. This presentation was like the flip side of a timeshare sales presentation. Which makes me wonder if these people weren't selling timeshares just a year or so ago. Slick, well presented and high pressure. We walked out after hearing the bottom line and several others did too. But I wonder how many people they take advantage of under the guise of "helping". The economy is bad, people are struggling more than ever with high prices on everything. I guess this is the atmosphere that scams do the best in. If you or anyone you know is trying to sell their timeshare and you get a letter from these people saying they can help. Be forewarned what kind of "help" you can look forward to.

hi blue...those evil low life scumbags. preying on others for their own gain and greed. obviously no conscience to bother them at night. i'm glad you walked out with the others. they need a whole lot more of that until they fold.
