The noblest profession is being a teacher. Do you agree?

It is because all professions pass through the hands of a teacher. It is said that a student spends 60 % of his time in school and only 40 % at home. Due to this fact, teachers have the most influence on the young. Teachers influence children/the youth up to a considerable degree that their role should not be disregarded. Do you agree with me? What are your thoughts on this?

I absolutely agree. Teachers have such an important job, and what they earn doing it is ludicrous. Such a small amount to the people who shape tomorrow's adults! I could never be a teacher - I haven't the patience for it. I have so much respect for teachers, especially the ones who REALLY care about their job and their students, who go that extra mile. Teachers like that should be getting six figure salaries.

I was a teacher and I feel all the love from the responses here. We just celebrated Teachers' Day here in my country and I was remembered when I would receive gifts and flowers from the kids. Well, I kind of miss all the appreciation I get from my students. I do hope that those kids appreciated me. They may not do it immediately, but hope they realize that teachers are not their enemies and are out there to help them. But I feel that the teaching profession is losing respect. Many kids are disrespectful towards their teachers. They don't seem to have a care in the world, much less teachers. Some parents here do not see teachers with respect too. I'm quite disillusioned by all these. But I know many teachers who have dedicated their entire life to teaching and deserve all the respect in the world.

That is interesting. It's good you have experienced the love of your students. Indeed nowadays, there are some who don't respect teachers. They often see teachers as the "enemies" because of how strict they are. They don't understand that most teachers want the best for them. Parents too should understand this. Happy teachers' day. Thanks for participating in this discussion. All the best.

I do agree that the noblest profession is being a teacher. I was lucky to have dedicated good teachers. Teachers still influence my life even though I have left school many years ago. Teachers sacrified their time to give us knowledge and skills. They are not as well payed as in other professions.

Who can disagree with you my friend. Both my parents were teachers and I' ve seen all the respect they had for being teachers. I too wanted to be in that profession, but later decided that I am unfit for the job as I have temper.

I 100% agreed with that, I am a teacher I usually spend 60% of my time at school.. but you know what, my reward is when I saw my students better than me.. I love my students and I want them to see the benefits of what I teach.. (im an IT lecturer, anyweiz..) Kudos to all Good TEACHERS! We mold the future!

I do agree with what you say here. Teachers have a lot of influence on young kids espeically. There is a lot of time spent in the school room and teachers form how kids think as well as the parents of course. I think that teachers should be held in high regard. And as you say everyone in every profession has been in the hands of teachers. A good teacher can have a very positive influence on a students outlook.

Yes, kids usually spent 60 -70 & of their time in school, so teachers have a major influence on children. You;re right that teachers should be respected just like any other profession. Thanks for your vital input. Cheers.
